This is my drawing of young Oliver Twist from Charles Dickens’ novel with the same name.
I’ve been in a Dickens class for this semester, and I had been inspired to draw artwork of Oliver Twist. I originally wanted to have Oliver in a London street setting, but in my heart ached the need to put him in a graveyard. I followed my heart on this one, and I am frankly quite satisfied with my decision. The graveyard, the rats, and the little bat monster give this illustration a bit of a Gothic flavor.
God bless young Oliver Twist. Hopefully, he finds his Rose Maylie in this picture soon.
